One of those days ...

Yesterday was one of those days where Lucy's behavior almost brought me to my knees. I am sorry Lucy, as hopefully one day you'll go back reading this detailed account of your early child hood but whew you can be a real BRAT sometimes!

It was my birthday. We were at the boys house and had Morgan with us. With three little boys and one little girl in the house you would THINK that one of the little boys would be the most violent, the most active, the most obstinate and the most oppositional. NOPE it was the cute little girl in braids.

I was stumped. I could not respond at one point. Both the big boys got hit with train tracks. Lucy did everything she was asked NOT to do. She went around the table intentionally drinking everyone's drink. She spilled a can of soda. She went up stairs when I wanted her to stay down, she went down when I wanted her up. I refused to let her eat cake or ice cream with us, she didn't care.

Sometimes I want to stay under my covers or get a second shift somewhere just for a stinking break.

vent over. I am certain there shall be more positive Lucy posts after this!

I wish I could take those hard Lucy days away or at least explain them. Hopefully it will get easier over time. And even when Lucy says otherwise, I know she LOVES you to pieces!

My sweet, pretty little 3 year old niece came to see me at work today and the first words out of her mouth were, "Margaret, go away!"...in front of my boss and coworkers;-) It's an age thing...hopefully:-)

Awwwww, sorry that not only was it a hard day, it was your b-day. Maybe she just wanted to be SURE you'd remember it well? ;)
Happy day to you and her!

Hmmm, time to hire Super Nanny. Did you happen to watch it last night (I can't stand the kick off episodes of American Idol, har har!). Two boys who I myself would have a hard time lovin (truly nightmarish). Boy, I'd like to see Lucy with my three boys let loose (we can protect ourselves through a plexi-glass divider or something). Scary! :)

Last night after sleepy Bereket threw his hard noggin against me for the third time and then Tsega joined in and started slapping me, I rubbed my sore jaw and said, "That's it! Bedtime's now!". Luckily not much protest because I was done!

Megan's mom needed your post today! Sassy Megan is driving me crazy. I don't know why expected her to be all sugar and spice all of the time. Was it that crazy nursery rhyme?

I swear it will get better. She has a LOT of imagination and creativity and her brain is constantly going. Sorry your day was so rough. When I have days like that I go to bed in tears, convinced my children will grow up to be axe murderers--or worse. You are a great mom. Tired, of course. But a great, great mom. Lucy has you for a reason.

What is that other nursery rhyme? Once there was a girl, with a little curl, right in the middle of her forhead...When she was good, she was very very good. But when she was bad she was horrid. I remember my mom telling me this one when I was 3, in my crib. And she was right, as usual. And now, I have my hands full with my own precious 4 year old with occassional horrid temper tantrums. The cycle of life is funny how you get paid back for what you did as a kid!

Darn Toddleritis. I wonder if it can be treated with antibiotics. Or ice cream (for Mama).
