Don't be too jealous "Jerry" out West!
I have a certain soul friend, blog friend ... fellow single mom to adorable Ethiopian toddler friend who CLAIMS to hate Elmo. I am really with this person I will call "Jerry", Elmo's voice is enough to make both of my cats dive under the sofa and sometimes I really want that red furball to just grow the heck up! However, at one point my darling daughter decided to LOVE Elmo. She doesn't really watch tv, not even when I beg her to (and really, despite my best intentions to not encourage TV, there are times where I'd give anything for 10 minutes of her sitting still) just watch Sesame street! So for Christmas my auntie Deb bought us tickets to the show "Elmo Grow Up". Lucy had a blast. She was captivated for most of the show, dancing, singing and watching. It was funny and cute. The show was about what the Sesame characters wanted to be when they grow up. Basically I think the point was that they could be whatever they wanted to be. Enter my mom (remember the gingerbread house episode?). Well she was trying to drive home the point to Lucy and said, "what do you want to be??? I know, you can be the President!!!!". Way to go grandma! At the tender age of 2 I had to point out that President was one thing she could not be, blah. I also added that she can not be: 1. too right winged 2. a monster truck rally attendee 3. a war monger.

Our only stipulation is that our kids can NOT be Packer fans. I love Sesame Street and strongly encourage TV--it's the only time my house is quiet. Z doesn't really care for Elmo. He's more of a Cookie Monster kind of guy, and we can live with that.
Mal is Hi5 all the way, but I think she'd LOVE anything show live, even Elmo of the squeaking voice!
Luci looks like she had a great time- it sure wore her out! :)
You all are crazy. Elmo is evil. Seriously, who is THAT happy? No one. He will crack one day. He has to.
Admittedly though, I looks like Lucy had blast. Hoping alcohol was served for the adults.
Come on, Mama Papaya! :-) I know you harbor a secret love of Elmo...who could resist after hearing only a couple of bars of "La-La-La-La La-LA-La-LA Elmo's world!" And his ever-fresh greeting of, "Hi, Dorothy!"
Lucy is a wise girl! :-)
keely
"Hi Dorothy"?????? OMG! I always thought he was calling his goldfish "DOGGY"!! and thought it was some kind of weird muppet thing!! LMAO (at myself!!)
Did you all know that the voice of Elmo is done by a very tall, brawny, distinguished African American male? Besides that, how can you hate something so sweet? Although there's no way anybody could have dragged me to that live Sesame Street show---eeks. And Stacy, how about "no right winged"? Seriously, my kids can grow up to be anything they want, but please, not a GOP member! :0) Although if it was Lucy E, then maybe I'd have to rethink my politics; that girl is too beautiful!
Cindy, believe me I edited that "too right winged" portion of the rules for Lucy. I didn't want to alienate too many readers! I figure by the time she's old enough for politics while she's living under this roof (tee hee) she'll know full-well that even looking to the right is too right ... (except when it comes to some foster care politics)
