Easter Egg decorating

Dear Readers,
I fell for peer pressure on this Easter Egg decorating extravaganza. I sure hope my next post is NOT about the salmonella aftermath.

Monday was tiring and hard but it was nice to come home and have dinner with five of my favorite young people:

A day in the life ...

a day in the life was an idea stolen from Life With Tiny ... For your enjoyment a sample of a (oh too typical) day in the life of two city girls ... 7:00 a.m. first stop is the coffee pot

first interaction is Zep the pup, who has to learn not to jump up on me when i have hot coffee in hand.

7:15 a.m Lucy calls to me ... yawning, she wants to stay in bed.

7:55 dressed to impress.

8:35 we put Zep in his kennel and head out.

9:00 am arrive at preschool.

9:10 am arrive at work.

my desk

1ish grab a bagel for lunch
1:10 quick stop to let Zep go potty.

3ish the snack of champions (note, the peach rings are NOT a normal snack)

4:45 pm home from daycare to let Zep out and grab pj's for night of babysitting.

feed zep before we go

let him eat and do his buzness

5:25 pm arrive at martial arts center to play outside with Jacob while boys kick it up inside

6:30 pm a little dress up at the boys place while dinner cooks.

7pm 4 hungry kids feast on pizza
8pm I put 4 kids to bed, didn't have time to capture that on film.
11:30 pm we head home

11:49pm she's in her own bed.

Tonight we made hummus

Once again I was very thankful to have a project planned for tonight, especially one that ended in yummy hummusy goodness. We made two kinds, regular and roasted red pepper. They turned out pretty good but once again I have to work on tweaking the recipe. Lucy prefers to "cook" with stuff from the "garbage bowl". I usually start her off with some flour and water and she'll add the skins, seeds etc of whatever I am working with. Her creations are very very goey and coud not possibly be any messier but she'll be entertained for a long time standing and mixing.

Making Salsa

Lucy and I used our new food processor (momma's birthday gift) to make home made salsa. Roasted corn, mango and black beans. It was yummy tonight but I imagine after a night of stewing in its own juices it'll be even yummier over a bed of fresh spinach tomorrow! I love when a fun activity = good food.

Saturday and Sunday a photo story

Saturday we went to the zoo. The beginning of a beautiful weekend.
Lucy had her new overshoe boots on and was a seeker of puddles.

She'll find every puddle. I don't think we saw any animals.

This puddle went over the top of her boots, oops.

Played at the playground in the zoo. FUN FUN FUN

The boots made her slide very very slowly.

So she went back to puddle jumping.

This was a bad bad splash. I think the other parents (the one who wanted their kids to stay dry, hated the bad example we were setting).

Looking at a prairie dog.

We got home from the zoo, ran to Target to buy a movie about a sparkly boy named Edward, and then went back outside, in short sleeves, for the rest of the afternoon.

After a long "get the mud off" bath our newest neighbor Rulio from Haiti, fixed Lucy's bike tires and we were off for a bike ride.

Today we spent all day outside. Lucy got a new spring dress from Auntie Deb and Uncle Dennis.

We definately made use of the nice weather. We were outdoors almost all the time. This morning Lucy and I were out by 8:30 it felt like we were camping, me standing outside with a mug of coffee and Lucy digging around in the dirt looking for rocks. It was fun and more fun.
